In September 1943, Rimini fell under the occupation of the 65th Infantry Division of the Wehrmacht. The newly appointed Prefectural Commissioner, a former captain of the Royal Italian Army, imposed a curfew and banned all gatherings, demonstrations, and public assemblies. In response, former soldiers, brave young people, and determined citizens formed underground groups, creating a Resistance movement against a war fought by foreign armies that viewed Italy with suspicion.

Rimini Libera™ is an educational and historical board game promoted by the Institute for the History of the Resistance and Contemporary Age of the Province of Rimini (ISREC), with the support of the Municipality of Rimini and the Gambalunga Civic Library, in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the city’s Liberation. The game has been produced as a limited edition and is not currently available for sale. For further information, please contact the promoting institutions.

Rimini Libera™ is a cooperative board game for 2-6 players, with sessions lasting at least 90 minutes. Set in Rimini during World War II, it covers the historical period from September 1943 to September 1944. Players take on the role of patriotic groups, working together to withstand the hardships of the Nazi-Fascist occupation and the advancing Allied forces. Cooperation is key to overcoming the game’s challenges, which faithfully represent the repression, deprivation, and struggle for freedom in a city under siege.

To enhance the storytelling and immersive experience of the project, our studio was responsible for producing the official promotional video for Rimini Libera™. Through a combination of historical footage, engaging visuals, and dynamic storytelling, the video captures the essence of the game, bringing to life the spirit of resilience and collaboration that defines Rimini’s Resistance.
