Hyle Book Festival returns for the third year with the theme For other paths.

‘For other paths’ is about change, risk, viewpoints, questioning, assessing possibilities, opening up to the new. But for other paths, says Costabile, one can also return. So the theme opens up multiple suggestions: where are we going and which paths do we need to take for a necessary change of course, under the banner of ecology, legality, peace, empathy? What are the new paths of contemporary literature and publishing, in Calabria and in the world? And which paths should we take to return to our origins and to the essence of reality?

This is the theme on which the festival wants to question itself with the help of literature, declined in already consolidated paths – the meetings, the read-creative workshops for children, the focus on cinematography, the presence of the storytellers – and in paths that are themselves new to the festival, such as the walking and book excursions and the cinema under the stars inspired by literature. Over all, the Sila, recalled by the festival in the etymology hyle, with the double meaning of ‘forest’ and ‘essence’.

A festival immersed in nature and a time for celebration and reflection: this is what the Hyle Book Festival wants to be, and what this year was easier to achieve thanks to the collaboration of so many people and realities in the area. It is beautiful when the paths, at the end, cross each other.
