The reportage on the loan of Mattia Preti’s paintings, “Presentation of Jesus at the Temple” and “The Baptism of Jesus,” provides an in-depth look at these masterpieces showcased in the 2023 exhibition “Unveiled Masterpieces.” Held at the monumental complex of San Giovanni in Catanzaro, the event was a significant opportunity to highlight and explore Preti’s art, one of the most prominent painters of the 17th century. Our reportage documents the process of loaning and preparing the artworks, offering a detailed overview of their journey from private collections to public display. Through interviews, analyses, and exclusive images, the reportage delivers an engaging and informative view of this exceptional exhibition, allowing the public to appreciate the grandeur of Mattia Preti’s paintings and discover new aspects of their historical and artistic value.

“The Patronage of Saint Barbara,” a painting by the 17th-century master Mattia Preti, has been thoroughly examined to uncover its secrets and resolve questions regarding a mysterious change of mind by the artist.

Our studio, in collaboration with the Comprehensive Institute of Taverna (CZ), the Diocesan Office for Ecclesiastical Cultural Heritage of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Catanzaro – Squillace, the parishes of Santa Barbara and Santa Maria Maggiore in Taverna (CZ), the Giuseppe Mantella Art Restoration company, and the Archaeological, Fine Arts, and Landscape Superintendency for the provinces of Catanzaro and Crotone, handled all phases of video shooting, production, and post-production for the project.

Narration by Sara Sanzi guides viewers through this exploration, providing a detailed and engaging narrative of the painting and its mysteries.
